It is after the season here in Kure Beach and the life guard crew is dwindling in numbers but not in service. It was a beautiful day today and a few people enjoying low tide. Most know to look for rip current but some still some cannot recognize the rip current.
A woman in an inflatable tube was enjoying the waves and got sucked out in the rip current. Not seaming in danger because if the inflated device but was having trouble getting in. life guards on patrol spring into action and a team of two swam out to bring her in unharmed.
I spoke to the life guards as they toweled off. I thanked them for their service. They seemed very laid back and acted like it was just another day. Or to say it another way, they acted as professionals.
Thanks for all you do life guards, and caring for Kure Beach residents.
